I Am a New LHO, What Do I Do Now
Local Health Officers (LHOs) have four primary job roles.
We will go over these basics by touching on Maine law as it relates to LHOs. One main idea of this section is that there are LHO mandatory duties as well as LHO implied duties. Implied duties involve the authority to carry out a duty but with no requirement to do so. There is a lot of resource related material in this section – you don’t have to memorize it as you read. The goal is for you to become acquainted with the basics and know where to check for information. Section Three should take approximately 90 minutes to read, process, and do two short knowledge checks.
