How to Legally Share Information
Now that you know what information is protected and when you need an authorization, this section explains how you can legally share that information by using an authorization. This section also describes the exceptions to the General Rule – those very limited circumstances when confidential information can be shared without an authorization.
When do I need an authorization?
You need an authorization when the General Rule applies. That is, you need an authorization when you want to transfer confidential or protected information across a program border. There might be exceptions to the General Rule but our starting point is to put the decision in the hands of our client.
